Concrete being the most widely used construction material for all types of structures it is inevitable that it conforms to the required quality and strength aspects. Our lab provides testing on compressive strength of concrete and various tests on its constituent materials like cement, sand and aggregates.
This includes conducting compressive strength test of concrete blocks. This test is usually conducted at 7 and 28 days of casting concrete cubes/cylinders. For early strength, test maybe conducted at 24 hours ± ½hour and 72 hours ± 2hours.
Testing sand for use as fine aggregates in concrete
Undertaking concrete mix design works. The determinations of the proportion of cement, aggregates and water to attain required strengths shall be made
Aggregates in concrete include both coarse and fine aggregates.
Coarse aggregates - these consist of clean hard, strong, dense porous and durable pieces of crushed stone, crushed gravel, natural gravel or a suitable combination or other approved inert material.
Fine aggregates - fine aggregates shall consist of hard, strong durable, clean particles of natural sand, crushed stone or gravel. They shall not contain dust; lumps, soft or flaky materials, mica and other deleterious materials in such quantities as would reduce the strength or durability of concrete or attack the embedded steel.
